We Are Called
During the season of Advent, we are called to prepare ourselves to celebrate God’s decision to break into humanity through the child Jesus.
Advent is a season of anticipation for God to do something totally new, unexpected and utterly human. This is an invitation for us to recognize that we, as Christians, are encouraged to constantly live ‘Advent-Lives’ by handing ourselves over to the possibility that God will break into our own journey, at any time!
Throughout this Advent season, I encourage you to be open to God breaking into your life in the days and year ahead, doing something new and unexpected in your own personal journey, but also in the journey of this community of St. John’s.
During this holy season, may you be reminded: you are part of the Body of Christ in this world—a world that often seems confusing and isolating, yet desperately needing people of faith to proclaim the coming of our Lord—in acts of humble service for others.
May you take time this Advent to meditate on the wonderful mystery of God’s love manifest in the Incarnation of His Son.
I invite you to make room for Christ to dwell in you and you in Him, through participation in the many opportunities for prayer and worship, outreach, and service here at St. John’s during the Advent and Christmas seasons.
